A Fresh Canvas: Rebranding, Agentic AI, and Running with Gemini
Rebuilding Sloan Creative on a fresh domain, shipping with agentic AI at ClickUp and beyond, and dictating a whole post to Gemini on a run.
It’s time for a bit of a facelift around here.
If you’ve been following my creative journey for a while, you might know my old personal blog. Truth be told, it hasn’t seen an update in nearly a decade and was sitting in a dusty corner of the web. But rather than just slapping a fresh coat of paint on something old, I’m building a brand-new digital home on a fresh domain called The Sloan Creative.
This isn’t about chasing traffic or orchestrating a grand comeback tour. It’s simply my personal playground: a space where I can freely share my videography, photography, and tech projects without worrying about algorithms or who’s listening.
Building in the Era of Agentic AI
The timing of this fresh start isn’t random. We are currently standing on the edge of a genuine shift in software development driven by agentic coding and new AI workflows.
Having spent over two decades in the tech industry, I’ve seen my share of platform shifts. There’s a lot of noise and anxiety out there right now about AI replacing jobs, especially in tech. But from where I sit, leaning into these tools is how we evolve. It’s not about replacement; it’s about expansion.
Case in point: I recently launched a new app called Sittally on the App Store. Embracing agentic workflows allowed me to move from concept to execution faster than ever before, turning ideas into shipped products with a speed that used to be impossible for a solo builder.
Evolving the Management Mindset at ClickUp
This shift hasn’t just impacted my side projects, it has fundamentally changed how I work in my day job as an engineering manager at ClickUp.
Agentic coding has given me the bandwidth to jump back into code far more often. I can prototype ideas, test assumptions, and map out complex architectural decisions much more quickly than before. On the management side, AI workflows have made me significantly more efficient. Synthesizing team notes, distilling critical details out of noisy streams of information, and identifying key priorities now take a fraction of the time, letting me focus on supporting my team and steering high-level strategy.
Streamlining the Visual Craft
That same technological shift is transforming my photography workflow. Lately, I’ve been diving back into Lightroom to polish up sports shots from recent games (which you can check out over on my Flickr).
The AI-assisted tooling baked into modern creative apps has completely changed the game. Tasks that used to be tedious, like removing distracting background elements or fine-tuning local adjustments, are now effortless. I no longer have to stress about getting every single pixel of background setup perfect in the moment; I can just capture the genuine motion and emotion on the field, knowing the post-processing tools have my back.
Dictation at 6 MPH
To prove just how integrated these tools have become in my daily routine: I didn’t type a single word of this post at a desk.
I’m actually dictating this entire piece to Gemini while out on an afternoon run, capturing these thoughts mid-stride before turning them into my next published post.
